Why an eSIM is the easy option in Turkey
Buying a local SIM in Turkey means finding an operator shop, showing your passport and paying tourist prices that are often far above what residents pay. Then there is the phone registration question (more on that below).
A travel eSIM avoids most of that. You buy it before you fly, install it at home on Wi-Fi, and it connects to a licensed Turkish network as soon as you land in Istanbul, Antalya or wherever you arrive. No passport at a counter, no queue, no paper SIM to lose.
No ID, no email, no account.Pay with crypto on the site or with Telegram Stars in our bot.
Get eSIM from $1.20The IMEI registration rule, explained
Turkey requires foreign phones to be registered (with a fee) if they are used on Turkish networks for a long time. The key points for travellers:
- You can use your phone for up to 120 days without registering it, whether you are on international roaming or a Turkish SIM. After that, an unregistered phone is blocked from Turkish networks.
- Registration is expensive. According to Turkey Travel Planner, the fee was 57,241 TL as of 1 January 2026, and it changes every year.
- Only one phone can be registered every three years per person.
For a holiday or business trip shorter than four months, this does not affect you: just use your eSIM. If you plan to stay longer, read up on the current rules before you go, because they change regularly. We are not lawyers, and this is general travel information, not legal advice.
Which plan should you buy?
Here are our Turkey plans at the time of writing (October 2026). Live prices are always on the plans page.
| Data | Valid for | Price | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 GB | 7 days | $2.24 | A weekend of maps and messages |
| 3 GB | 7 days | $6.05 | A typical week of light use |
| 5 GB | 15 days | $9.59 | Two weeks, some social media |
| 10 GB | 30 days | $17.26 | A month, or heavy video use |
| 20 GB | 30 days | $30.44 | Remote work, hotspot |
Shorter and bigger options exist too, and there is a cheap 1-day plan for transit stops.
How much data do you need?
- Maps, messengers, ride-hailing, browsing: about 0.3–0.5 GB a day, so about 3 GB a week.
- Add an hour of Instagram or TikTok a day: count 8–10 GB a week.
- Video calls, hotspot for a laptop: 2 GB a day or more.
Add about 20% for safety. If you run out, buy a second small plan, which installs alongside the first in a minute. Top-ups are not available yet.
Days start on arrival. The plan's days count from your first connection in Turkey, not from purchase. Buy and install a few days early with no loss.
Setting it up
- Before you fly: check your phone supports eSIM (dial
*#06#and look for an EID) and is not carrier-locked. Our phone check helps. - Install at home on Wi-Fi. iPhone users can tap "Install on iPhone" on the order page. Everyone else scans the QR code.
- Name the line something like "NoIDeSim" so you can tell your SIMs apart.
- On landing: set the NoIDeSim line for mobile data, turn on data roaming on that line, and toggle airplane mode once.
- Turn off data roaming on your main SIM so your home carrier does not charge you. Calls and SMS to your normal number still work, and so do bank codes.
Paying without a card
You can pay with crypto on the website: USDT (TRC-20), TON, Solana, USDC, ETH, BTC or Monero. In our Telegram bot you can also pay with Telegram Stars. There is no account and no ID check. See how to buy an eSIM with crypto.
Travelling on from Turkey?
If your route continues to Greece, Bulgaria or elsewhere in Europe, consider a regional plan instead of two single-country ones. Check that every country on your route is included in the plan's list. Our Europe guide covers it.
Troubleshooting in Turkey
If you land and have no internet, work through the steps in eSIM not working abroad. Nine times out of ten it is data roaming switched off on the eSIM line, or the wrong line selected for mobile data. If that does not help, our support in Telegram answers from 09:00 to 21:00 Central European Time.
FAQ
Do I need to register my phone's IMEI to use an eSIM in Turkey?
Not for normal trips. Foreign phones can be used for up to 120 days on roaming or a Turkish SIM without registration. Longer stays require registration and a fee, which was 57,241 TL as of January 2026.
Can I buy a Turkey eSIM without a passport?
Yes. NoIDeSim does not ask for ID, email or an account. You pay with crypto or Telegram Stars and receive the QR code within about a minute.
Does the eSIM give me a Turkish phone number?
No. It is data-only. Your main SIM keeps your number, and WhatsApp or Telegram keep working over the eSIM's data.
Will my eSIM work in Cappadocia or on the coast?
It uses licensed Turkish networks with 4G/LTE (5G where available). Coverage in cities and tourist areas is generally good, while remote mountain areas depend on local coverage.
