eSIM basics
- eSIM
- An embedded SIM: a chip soldered inside the phone that can download operator profiles over the internet instead of using a removable plastic card. Installing an eSIM means downloading a profile, usually by scanning a QR code.
- eUICC
- The technical name of the eSIM chip (embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card). One eUICC can store several operator profiles, and you choose which one is active for mobile data.
- eSIM profile
- The digital equivalent of a SIM card: operator credentials and settings downloaded to the eUICC. A NoIDeSim purchase gives you one profile with a data plan attached.
- ICCID
- The unique serial number of a SIM or eSIM profile, usually 19–20 digits starting with 89. Support uses it to find your eSIM, check remaining data and apply top-ups.
- LPA activation code
- A text string in the format LPA:1$server$code that contains everything your phone needs to download the profile. It is what the QR code encodes; you can enter it manually if scanning is not possible.
- SM-DP+
- Subscription Manager Data Preparation — the secure server that stores eSIM profiles and delivers them to phones. Its address is the middle part of the LPA activation code.
- QR code
- A picture of the LPA activation code. Scan it from another screen in Settings → Cellular/Mobile → Add eSIM. Most profiles can be downloaded only once, so keep the QR private.
- GSMA SGP.22
- The industry specification for consumer eSIM, published by the GSMA. Phones and profiles that follow it are interoperable across manufacturers and operators.
Plans and validity
- Local plan
- A data plan that works in one country. Usually the lowest price per gigabyte for that destination.
- Regional plan
- One eSIM that works across a group of countries, such as Europe, Asia or Latin America. The exact country list is shown before purchase.
- Global plan
- A plan that covers 100+ countries on several continents. Convenient for frequent flyers and long trips, usually more expensive per gigabyte.
- Validity
- How many days the plan stays active. On most NoIDeSim plans the countdown starts on first connection in a supported country, not at purchase.
- Top-up
- Adding more data or days to an eSIM you already installed, without scanning a new QR code.
- Data-only eSIM
- A plan with mobile internet but no phone number, calls or SMS. Messengers and internet calls (WhatsApp, Telegram, FaceTime) still work over data.
- Fair usage policy (FUP)
- Operator rules that may reduce speed after heavy use on some plans, mainly unlimited or daily ones.
Networks and phone settings
- Roaming
- Using your home operator abroad through a partner network. Convenient, but often charged at high per-MB or daily rates. A travel eSIM replaces roaming data with a prepaid local-rate plan.
- Data roaming switch
- A phone setting that allows data abroad. Travel eSIMs connect through partner networks, so data roaming usually has to be ON for the travel eSIM line (and can stay OFF for your home line).
- APN
- Access Point Name — the gateway setting your phone uses for mobile data. eSIM profiles normally set it automatically; support will give you the value if your phone needs it entered manually.
- 4G / LTE / 5G
- Mobile network generations. Plans use 4G/LTE everywhere they work and 5G where the partner operator and your phone support it.
- Carrier lock (SIM lock)
- A restriction that lets a phone use only one operator. A locked phone cannot install travel eSIMs until the lock is removed by the original carrier.
- Hotspot / tethering
- Sharing your phone’s mobile data with a laptop or another device over Wi-Fi. Allowed on most plans; a few operators restrict it.
- Dual SIM
- Using two lines at once — for example your home SIM for calls and SMS and a NoIDeSim eSIM for data.
Privacy and payments
- KYC
- Know Your Customer — identity checks such as passport scans, selfies or address proof. NoIDeSim does not perform KYC and never asks for documents.
- No-KYC eSIM
- An eSIM sold without identity verification or account registration. With NoIDeSim the only link to you is the Telegram chat or the order code used to deliver the eSIM.
- Telegram Stars
- Telegram’s in-app currency for digital goods. You buy Stars inside Telegram and spend them in bots; no card details are shared with the bot.
- USDT (TRC-20)
- The Tether stablecoin on the TRON network, pegged to the US dollar. Popular for payments because network fees are low and confirmation takes about a minute.
- TON
- The native cryptocurrency of The Open Network, closely integrated with Telegram wallets. Fast and cheap to send.
- XMR (Monero)
- A privacy-focused cryptocurrency that hides sender, receiver and amount on its blockchain.
- Minimum crypto payment
- The smallest amount a crypto payment processor accepts for a coin, so that network fees do not exceed the payment. Small orders can be paid with Telegram Stars instead.
